Ghee Pongal
Authentic Tamilnadu Style Ghee Pongal for a perfect breakfast
Preparation time: 20 mins

Ingredients:
Raw rice: 1 cup
Moong dal: 1 cup
Ghee 4 tblspn
pepper: 1 tblspn
Cumin seeds: 1 tblspn
Green chilly: 3 nos
curry leaves: 10 leaves
ginger: 1 inch
salt as per taste
cashew nuts: 10 nos

Raw rice: 1 cup
Moong dal: 1 cup
Ghee 4 tblspn
pepper: 1 tblspn
Cumin seeds: 1 tblspn
Green chilly: 3 nos
curry leaves: 10 leaves

Pre preparation:
- Coarsely grind the pepper, cumin seeds and ginger
- chop the green chilly
Method:
- Take a pressure cooker,add the washed rice and moong dal
- add water in a proportion of 1:3 that is for 1 cup rice +1 moong dal add 6 cups of water
- add salt as per taste and pressure cook for 6 whistles
- Heat the ghee in a kadai add the coarsely ground pepper mixture along with green chilly and curry leaves and saute for 30 secs
- add the cashew nuts and fry it until it becomes light brown and switch off the flame
- add the tempering once the pressure is down
- Mix well adjust the consistency by adding water
Authentic Tamilnadu Style Ghee Pongal is ready to serve
Best served with Sambar and chutney along with Medu vadai
