Authentic Tamil Nadu style Fish curry #meen kolumbu

Ingredients:
Fish: 1/2 kg ( any fish can be used,I have used Sardines/mathi meen)
Small onions: 20 to 25 nos
Tomatoes: 3 nos
Ginger garlic paste: 2 tblspn
Tamarind extract: 2 cups
Samabar powder: 4 tblpsn
Turmeric powder: 1/2 tspb
Mustard seeds: 1 tspn
Cumin seeds: 1 tspn
Fenugreek seeds: 1 tspn
Gingerly oil: 4 tlbspn
Curry leaves: handfull
Salt as per taste

Method:
- Heat the oil in a kadai
- Add mustard seed,cumin seed, fenugreek seeds and let it splutter
- Add the chopped small onions and curry leaves and saute well
- Once the onions are well browned add ginger garlic paste and saute for 5 mins
- Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook until it becomes soft
- Add turmeric powder, salt, Sambhar powder and mix well for 30 secs
- Add the tamarind extract along with some water and bring it to boil
- Once the curry gets its required consistency add the washed fish and cover it and cook it in low flame for 5 -7 mins and switch of the flame
Delicious authentic Tamilnadu style Fish curry or meen kolumbu is ready to serve
Best served with Rice and fish fry, for extra taste serve the curry the next day along with idly our dosa
